Parents often ask me, using birth order, which one of my children will be most successful?
Just like there are no Bad birth orders, every birth order has a chance to be successful.
We must first define the word successful, for it means different things for different birth orders. The parent’s definition for success may be for the child to leave the house and become self-supporting.
Each birth order would see success differently.
The Only child may be happiest working in the publishing industry, as books were their first friends. They are not afraid to go out on their own as they usually have a lot of self-confidence. Former First Lady Laura Bush was an Only child.
The Firstborn likes to be in-charge. Any job that lets them tell others what to do is perfect. Many of our CEO’s are Firstborns. We also find many politicians with this birth order. Sam Walton of Walmart was a Firstborn.
The Second born is usually the athlete in the family, if his older sibling is the student. This birth order is very competitive and does not like others telling him what to do. Making a lot of money will give him his independence. Warren Buffett is a second born.
The Third born sees the beauty and problems in the world and will want to fix them. Anything to do with helping people or making the world more beautiful is perfect for this birth order. Teaching, art, music, or acting is a good match for the number three. Tom Hanks is a third born.
The Fourth born is the baby in the family and is usually unafraid of adults. Life should be fun so anything to do with people and the public is a perfect match for the number four. Michael Jordan is a fourth born.
